September 2011 Newsletter

Coloma Rod and Gun Club Newsletter
September 15,2011
Monthly meeting for September was held as usual the 2nd Monday of the month. It was
good to see some new and old club members attended. There was a large agenda and
it took the better part of 2 hours to get thru everything.
Monthly meetings are still the 2nd Monday of the month, but the time has changed to
7:30 PM. A new membership presentation was presented by Tom Renner and Mike
Realmuto. Type of membership –  Individual ($45.00) Couple ($75.00) Family ($90.00
with children 10-17 years old)  All membership fees include a CRGC Membership to the
MUCC. As of October 1, 2011 memberships will be pro rated for the rest of 2011 and to
include a full year in 2012. New Membership forms are available at the Clubhouse on
Sunday’s from 7 AM to 1PM or call 269-468-6745. The new form was approved by all.
Also available are the Club’s By-Laws with the Coloma Rod and Gun Club Code of
Conduct attached. Great job guys.
Mike Realmuto gave us an update on the status of our dealings with The Coloma
Township. We are very optimistic about the upcoming trial and looking for an end to a
long unnecessary battle.
A Mega Phone has been purchased for use in crowd control during some of our larger
outdoor events such as: Hunter/Archery Safety class, Trap Shoots, and other larger
shoots.
The Kitchen Report was presented by Karen Johnson and as in the past the kitchen is
alive and well. Breakfast is served every Sunday 7AM to 12PM.  They serve a regular
Sunday Special along with the regular menu. Dinners on the 3rd Saturday will more
than likely resume in October. The Fish Fry on the 1st Friday of the month is a big hit
with all. Greg Bain is in the process of helping us with putting a new top on our main
grill. Thanks Greg. Karen tells us that Randy Antio is the main cook and cooks almost
every Sunday. His Corn Beef Hash has become a favorite to everyone. Thanks Randy
for all your hard work at the club.
Larry Lute gave his report on the old and new Archery Range. With all the work being
done and the new 3D targets, come spring we will have, no doubt one of the nicest out
door archery ranges in our area. We expect to have a high turn out on our archery day
shoots. Larry also gave us an update on his upcoming Hunter/ Archery Safety Class
which will be held September 19th. As of now the attendance count is about 45. Good
job Larry.
We are restoring an older building to keep the archery targets safe and out of the
weather when not in use. If you have any construction material laying around that you
are not using we would love to take it off your hands, we will even come and pick it up. The roof and sides need replaced and we also are in need of a door. Please call 269-
519-3944 if you can help in any way.
The Rattle Battle Shoot was a tremendous success over the Labor Day Week-end. The
kitchen was nonstop and the shooters were about the same. Thanks, Dave Warren,
Ryan Ransom, and Tony Simaz. Hey Dave, when’s the next one?
Drawing for the CRGC Archery Deer Hunt was conducted after the meeting and was
one by none other than Chester Janose from Coloma. I hope you can break away from
your taxi and baby sitting service long enough to come out and hunt Chester!!!  Good
hunting and thanks for your support.
Election of officers will be held at the October meeting. Sign up sheets have been taken
down and are being screened by the election committee.
Karen Johnson reported that the front gate signs are in the capable hands of Perry
at Anchor Signs and she should have the proofs any day. She also reported that she
has turned over to Mike Realmuto the contact numbers for the high-way signs.
Dave Foster reported that he and Brig Johnson Jr. and crew have been working on the
number 2 pond for about 2 weeks. Ponds are looking good and be ready to use by
Spring. Need more volunteers interested in the ponds clean – up Saturday or Sunday
afternoons. Call Dave 876-2983.
Keep watching for our upcoming, Club Birthday Party, our Open house, Craft Show,
Swap Meet and more.
We need more volunteers in every aspect of our club. This is your club and it is every
member’s duty to volunteer to keep our club going. As of now, we have pretty much the
same members week after week and now it is your turn to step up to the plate and help
your club.
Thank-you Thank-you to all who have helped through out the summer. You are very
much appreciated. Thank-you Shortie (Char)  and Jeannie for always doing what you
can do.
Come out and join the club that is on the move. KJ
