Hello, my name is Michael Clark. I am currently employed as the Deputy of Director of Police Service for the City of Benton Harbor. I am a career public servant. I started in the US Army in 1996 after graduating from Hartford High School. During my time in the Army, while on active duty I was stationed in Korea and Washington DC. Aside from that, I have been lifelong resident of South West Michigan. I am married and have 5 children. I am very slowly working on my master’s degree.

During my time in public service, the total time military and civilian has been law enforcement. My time as a police officer allowed me to seek out training and work up towards certifications to teach civilian’s and police officers as well. I am a state certified firearms instructor and have additional training to teach tactical pistol courses, shot gun courses, and rifle courses. I am also a certified armor for 1911 style pistols, Glock Pistols, Shotguns, and Rifles.

I enjoy teaching and working with the public, an educated and responsible public makes for a safer community as a whole.

I teach an 8-hour Michigan CPL Course that consists of 5 hours of classroom and 3 hours of range time. During this time, we will cover basic nomenclature, safe handling, Michigan law, carrying techniques, and basic firearms functions and malfunction drills.

The cost of training is $125.00 per student. Each student is required to have their own pistol, at least 50 rounds ammunition, hearing protection and eye protection. Students will bring their weapons to class in a case, however if you own a quality holster that may be used during the range time.

Since the 2020 pandemic, civilian Firearm ownership amongst women and new gun owners has increased at a dramatic rate. Faster than in any recent time of our countries history. Knowing how to properly use a self-defense firearm is one of the best equalizers helping protect you from bad actors planning to do harm to you or your family. You can benefit from Steve’s 15+ years training new & experienced gun owners in defensive gun skills. This CPL class is held on the 3 rd Saturday of each month and is conducted in a safe, educational and fun environment. During part of this class, you will use SIRT Laser Trainers allowing a more interactive class room experience. This will enhance your live fire training and provide you more benefits than the minimum required for the State CPL. This will give you more confidence and impact your accuracy and response times for protecting you and your family.

This class is designed for anyone new to firearm self-defense. Contact Steve directly if you also need the use of a firearm for this class. Steve is a NRA & USCCA Certified instructor. Also a NRA & USCCA Range Safety Officer (RSO), a Hunter Safety instructor and American Red Cross Certified Instructor. Private Training available.
